Consolidation and Expansion of Community-based Education in Laghman Province

Afghanistan has been categorized as level-3 emergency (L3) as per the UNICEF global emergency procedures, where a principled, timely, quality and child-centered humanitarian action and advocacy is at the core of UNICEF’s emergency response in line with its core commitments of Children (CCCs), addressing both the challenges and benefiting from new opportunities to reach more children with quality education that is lifesaving, life enabling and provides children and families with hope for a better future. The Consolidation and expansion of Community-based Education Program entails activities implemented by AABRAR in Laghman Province covering 426 CBEs inclusive of 357 CBCs and 69 ALCs. 447 professionally trained teachers regularly teach, and 88 more support teachers are recently recruited, therefore, we have 535 active teachers at provincial level teaching 1500 students in six districts of Laghman Province namely Qarghaye, Mehtarlam, Badpakh, Alishang, Alingar and Dawlat Shah districts. All the activities are implemented in close coordination with with directorate of education. Although the project was kicked off in 2022 but it is extended to September, 2024 respectively
